About Us
Komik is a film and television production company founded by writer-director Mikko Myllylahti in 2023, with a mission to bring high artistic quality to Finnish television and cinema. In its first years of operation, Komik Productions will focus on the development of film and television projects led by Myllylahti. In the coming years, the company aims to expand its slate to include projects by other talented writers.
At the core of Komik’s philosophy is a strong focus on screenwriting: giving writers the time and space to work. We believe that only by investing in writing can international-quality work be achieved with limited resources. Mikko Myllylahti has extensive experience as a screenwriter and director. Since graduating with a Master of Arts in 2012 from Finland’s leading film school (Aalto University / ELO), he has participated in several high-profile international screenwriting workshops, including Cannes L’Atelier, Semaine de la Critique Next Step 1 & 2, Berlinale Script Station, Torino Film Lab, Toronto Filmmakers’ Lab, and Series Mania’s Series Makers.
Myllylahti’s screenwriting credits include two feature films that both premiered at and won awards at the Cannes Film Festival: The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (2016) and The Woodcutter Story (2022), the latter also marking his debut as a feature film director. He has worked internationally and in Finland as a freelance writer and director for film and television. Extensive professional networks and years of experience in European quality drama and its development processes form the foundation of Komik Productions.
